2020 was something else, right? The world turned upside down and there was fear and uncertainty and lots of tik toks. It was a wild 12 months for our little family. We found out we were pregnant end of January of 2020. Our little secret.
Then, awkwardly, we had a Texas trip already scheduled in February (we sometimes stay in Chicago over Christmas break and do our family visit in February). I say awkwardly because we were only about 6 weeks pregnant when we were to see family. There would be in no way to hide it as my side loves to have a drink (or two) together. Something would be up if I politely said "no thank you". This made us so so nervous as we had a miscarriage in the early fall of 2019 (more on that another time). We decided to make some fun gifts to help our announcement at each family stop. This was so fun! I love surprising people and making gifts!
Since Ryan and I live in Chicago, but both our families live in Texas we felt they needed some Chicago gear to represent their new grand baby that's being born in Chi Town. We had Chicago Cubs t-shirt jerseys made with their grandparent name on the back and 20 as the number. They were clearly a hit!
I forgot to get photos of everything we got for siblings, but for my oldest brother and sister-in-law we gifted luggage tags I made to come visit their newest nephew. My middle brother and sister-in-law I made a cute little shirt for their little girl that said "I Love My Chicago Cousin, coming Oct 2020". I put this on her when we saw them and let her show off her new tee. For Ryan's sisters I made "Aunt Squad" t-shirts. I absolutely loved surprising everyone with such good news!
I'm very thankful for the happiness we were able to celebrate as March of 2020 made everything turn upside down. It was wild how quickly things seemed to flip. We just went on an out of state vacation and a month later we had a mandatory work from home and quarantine situation. While it wasn't the year any of us anticipated it was still a year I'll always remember lovingly.
October of 2020 we welcomed our baby Boy, Finnigan "Finn" Luke Thiessen, to the world. My labor and delivery story deserves it's own post and that is coming, but for now I wanted to tell the world (almost a year later) about my baby boy.
